2025/11/04 Beixing JHS - Teacher Jeminah
Today, Ms. Jeminah guided the students of Beixing Junior High School to explore a meaningful local landmark—the Chiayi Municipal Museum—through English learning.
The lesson began with famous Taiwanese attractions such as Taipei 101, Taroko Gorge, and Alishan. From there, the teacher led students to connect these places with Chiayi’s own cultural pride, making English learning more relevant to daily life and their hometown.
Throughout the lesson, Ms. Jeminah used several museum-related questions to anchor the theme and encourage students to think and express themselves in English:
Q: What did you see in the museum?
Students eagerly raised their hands, sharing the different things they saw in the museum.
Q: What is a museum?
Through group work, they wrote a complete sentence together:
A museum is a place where we can learn new things and see things from the past.
Q: Where is the museum?
Students confidently replied: It’s in our city — Chiayi!
Next came the vocabulary of the day:
(1) floor (2) special (3) art (4) factory (5) past (6) history (7) railway
Students then practiced these new words through a fun “WordWall Maze Chase” activity!
The teacher scrambled the vocabulary and challenged students to form the correct sentence within ten seconds, reinforcing both word recognition and sentence structure through game-based learning.
Through this lesson, students not only learned new vocabulary and sentence patterns, but also deepened their understanding of Chiayi’s culture and history.
