2026/10/13 Lantan ES Teacher Jerson

2026/10/13 Teacher Jerson
Grade: 4th Grade

The lesson today was themed around a story named "Somebody Swallowed Stanley". Teacher Jerson guided students through understanding what this story tried to say and learning vocabulary by designing many different funny activities in the class.

Jerson previewed the vocabulary as a warm-up for the upcoming game, and then students were divided into 2 groups and ready to play "Action Charades". The representative first caught Jerson 's gesture, and they ran to the person at the front of line to pass on the gesture. The final student in the line needed to rush to the lectern and snatch corresponding cutout. This game allowed them to improve the judgment, reflexes, and build team spirit.

The story is about a plastic bag named Stanley, who is accidentally swallowed by different sea animals, but always has a close call. Stanley finally gets rescued by a kind boy, and he turned Stanley into a kite. Jerson told the story and the students were enjoying it, but they had to pay attention to a sudden question raised by the teacher. During the storytelling, Jerson also educated students about the importance of the ocean protection with 3Rs initiative introduced: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

After the storytelling, the teacher randomly called the student group to answer the story-related questions, encouraging them to apply vocabulary learned on different sentence patterns. The whole lesson was combined with games, practice and assessment. Students enhanced not only their comprehension of story context but the capability of expression. The professor observing the entire lesson gave a high praise on Jerson's lively instruction, especially the competence in integrating lower and higher level students in one class.
