Theme: The City of Wood

Today, Teacher Wynne led the students to gain an in-depth understanding of Chiayi, the City of Wood. At the beginning of the lesson, Teacher Wynne reviewed the sensory verbs like taste, hear, touch, see, and smell to help the students quickly get into the mood. Then, Teacher Wynne organized a group quiz where students guessed what kind of wooden building was shown in the pictures, such as a reading room, coffee shop, museum, and so on. Using an introduction video filmed on-site with Teacher Rebecca, Teacher Wynne captured the students’ attention and guided them to explore the H.H.M Studio located on Chengren Street. Teacher Wynne designed a series of questions for the students to answer, helping them learn more about the history of wooden houses in Chiayi. At the end of the lesson, each group was assigned a wooden building. After working together to complete a postcard, they took turns presenting on stage to introduce the building and its history to everyone.
