Happy Chinese New Year! 🧧

Today’s lesson focused on foods we eat during Chinese New Year. The teacher introduced a variety of festive dishes—such as fish, hot pot, tangyuan (glutinous rice balls), rice cakes, and dumplings—connecting English learning to students’ real-life experiences and making it more meaningful and relatable.

During the lesson, the teacher used a random spinner to select students to answer the question, “What do you like to eat?” Students practiced speaking in complete sentences, for example, “I like to eat dumplings.”

Next, each student completed a worksheet by writing down their favorite New Year foods to reinforce sentence patterns.

To wrap up the class, students used iPads to record short videos introducing their favorite foods in English and shared them with the class. Through recording and watching one another’s videos, every child had the chance to speak English and showcase their work—building confidence step by step through repeated practice!
