2025/11/18 Chung Wen Elementary School - Teacher Kezia

Topic: Distinguishing the Use of “made of” and “made from”

In this lesson, Ms. Kezia guided students to identify and understand the difference between
“made of” (the material’s appearance remains unchanged) and
“made from” (the material has been transformed), using familiar materials from daily life.

Example sentences:

  • The window is made of glass.

  • Juice is made from fruits.

Through comparison and sentence-making practice, students gradually mastered the appropriate usage of both patterns and learned to apply them in everyday communication.

To further support learning, the teacher used an AI-generated song to help students remember the grammar rule:

made of ~ made of ~ same same same
made from ~ made from ~ changed changed changed

The simple melody and key phrases helped students understand the semantic differences more efficiently.

The lesson concluded with a Hot Seat Game:
Four students came to the front and sat with their backs to the screen. Classmates described the picture shown on the screen—using made of or made from—and the students in the hot seat had to infer the object based on the clues.

Through this activity, students practiced using English in an authentic context, strengthening their speaking skills, reasoning abilities, and understanding of the target sentence patterns.

Ms. Kezia thoughtfully integrated AI tools and interactive activities into her lesson design, demonstrating her dedication and care for students’ learning.
