Course Theme :  Food in Chiayi

This lesson centers on the theme of "Chiayi Special Culinary Delights." coincide with Halloween, Mr. Charles specially prepared signature candies from his hometown in the United States as an opening surprise, allowing students to sample foreign flavors while contemplating which local Chiayi delicacy has left the most indelible impression on them.

Mr. Charles began by reviewing the vocabulary and content from the previous session before guiding students into today's core vocabulary at a deeper level. Through an interactive Q&A approach to reinforce retention and facilitate new learning, when students learned the word "dish," Mr. Charles prompted them to engage in divergent thinking, guiding them to derive key course vocabulary and descriptive adjectives for food.

In response to spontaneous questions from students during class, Mr. Charles provided detailed, thoughtful explanations. For example, when introducing Chiayi's unique "soy milk tofu pudding," a student noted seeing both "soybean pudding" and "douhua" on menus. Mr. Charles explained the distinction, shared his own captivating experience trying Chiayi's signature style for the first time as a foreigner, and naturally guided the students into discussing descriptive vocabulary related to rich textures, such as "sweet" and "smooth."

During the review phase, Mr. Charles utilized a spinner wheel game to guide students through vocabulary and phrase practice, alongside video sharing to introduce authentic, real-life contexts. He then led the students in answering questions, engaging in in-depth discussions, and completing oral expression exercises based on the video content.
