2025/12/30 Beiyuan Elementary School - Teacher Glenna
Topic: Beixiang Lake Park
At the beginning of the lesson, students watched a related video. The teacher prepared a step-by-step visual guide based on the video to help students understand the context. Next, the students were divided into two groups and, under the teacher’s guidance, read the dialogue aloud together. The teacher asked questions after each section to check students’ comprehension of the dialogue.
Afterward, students were further divided into six small groups to complete a picture-and-text matching activity on tablets. They then went on stage to arrange the sentences in the correct order and practiced reading them aloud. At the end of the lesson, the teacher used a large picture of Beixiang Lake Park to have students practice the sentence pattern, “I can see ______ in the park,” encouraging them to describe what they observed in the picture orally.
Throughout the lesson, the students from Beiyuan Elementary School were highly engaged and actively participated in all activities. The teacher’s energetic teaching style successfully captured their attention, creating a relaxed and enjoyable learning atmosphere.
The principal of Beiyuan Elementary School, as well as professors and staff from the English Resource Center, attended the observation. They provided valuable feedback after the lesson, such as: paying closer attention to each student in class, providing sentence patterns at different difficulty levels according to student ability, appropriately increasing the challenge of activities to encourage students to step out of their comfort zones, and offering more opportunities for oral practice. At the same time, the professors and school staff commended the teacher’s thorough preparation, noting that the PPT was well-organized and informative, and praised the natural and seamless interaction between the teacher and students.
