Teacher Cess
Grade: Grade 2
Teacher Cess chose "How many apples do you need?" as today's lesson theme, guiding students to learn fruit vocabulary and quantity expressions. Through a variety of fun games and interactive activities, she enhanced students' interest in English learning and their speaking skills.
The class began with a "What Am I?" fruit guessing game as a warm-up, guiding students to guess familiar fruits based on their characteristics and uses. Next, she introduced fruit vocabulary (such as grapes, guavas, papayas, etc.) and displayed pictures showing the diverse uses of fruits in different countries. Subsequently, she introduced the core sentence patterns "How many [fruit]s do you need?" and "I/We need [number] [fruit]s.", paired with pictures and group practice to deepen learning impressions.
In the following "Shopping Activity", students worked in groups playing the roles of customers and shopkeepers. Based on shopping lists, they looked for designated stalls in the classroom, used target sentence patterns to engage in dialogue, and collected fruit paper cards and receipts, demonstrating teamwork and oral application skills. The lesson combined diverse game activities with real-life scenario simulations, in which the teacher specially integrated cultural content such as the diverse uses of fruits in different countries to guide students in broadening their international perspectives, earning the visiting professor's positive feedback and affirmation.
