2025/11/07 Ta-Tung Elementary School - Teacher Wynne

Theme: Chen Cheng-po's Art in Chiayi: Describing Paintings Through Place and Color
Today, Teacher Wynne and the students explored the world of colors together while also learning about the famous Chiayi painter, Chen Cheng-po.
At the beginning of the class, the students quickly got into the groove, turning to the assigned pages as instructed by the teacher and earning points through group activities.
Teacher Wynne then used the sentence pattern "We see them on/at/near ______" to help students practice prepositions. At the same time, she shared the titles and locations of Chen Cheng-po's paintings, allowing students to review some English place names in Chiayi City.
In the middle of the lesson, Teacher Wynne showed Chen Cheng-po's paintings and asked the students to observe and name the colors featured in the artwork. She also taught them adjectives to describe colors, such as dark <--> bright and cool <--> warm. Through these paintings, students practiced applying what they learned by describing the color schemes of each piece in English.
Later in the class, Teacher Wynne had the students work in groups to present the paintings assigned to them. This activity helped improve their teamwork and presentation skills, while also allowing them to summarize what they had learned during the lesson.
Dod you know that “Our Taiwanese Shaved Ice” is Chen Cheng-po's former residence? Teacher Wynne and co-teacher Matty shared some historical stories about Chen Cheng-po, helping students gain a deeper understanding of Chiayi's local culture!
Before the class ended, all the students received a traditional treat from “Our Taiwanese Shaved Ice” — honey sweet potatoes — leaving them with a rich and rewarding experience!
