Unit 2 of Chiayi Adventures: Chiayi Park
The lesson began with a map of Chiayi City displayed on the screen, zooming in to Chiayi Park. Then, the class discussed how to get from Chiayi Junior High School to Chiayi Park. We're going to visit Chiayi Park!
Ms. Kaye showed an introduction video about Chiayi Park and asked some questions: What did you see in the video? What can be found in Chiayi Park?
The students were very clever, giving the answers the teacher wanted, and even noticed a painting by Chen Deng-bo in the park!
Next, the class focused on vocabulary, with students reading the text and listening to the audio, answering four questions from the lesson.
Ms. Kaye also divided the students into groups. Each group received five pictures, and each student got a different picture to create a sentence starting with "You can...". Afterward, each group presented their sentences on stage. This activity not only allowed students to read sentence but also encouraged peer support. After writing their sentences, each group practiced and helped their members with pronunciation to say the sentences correctly. Some students even tried to recite the entire sentence when presenting!
