2026/01/22 Shih-Hsien Elementary School - Teacher Glenna

The lesson was centered around the theme of the Lunar New Year. The teacher began with a memory-based warm-up activity, introducing key vocabulary such as lion dance, firecrackers, lucky money (red envelopes), and spring couplets. Through timed picture-observation tasks, students practiced focus and memory while reinforcing their understanding of the new vocabulary.

Next, students participated in a group activity called “Spell or Pass.” By guessing words from images, groups could choose to come to the front and spell the word themselves or pass the challenge to the next group. This competitive format effectively strengthened students’ spelling skills and vocabulary retention.

Finally, students created their own English spring couplets, drawing New Year elements learned in class and pairing them with English blessing phrases. Through this creative activity, students were able to integrate language learning with cultural understanding while preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year. 🧧
